Encino Hospital - Lown Institute - Value of CareJune 26, 2025 — Encino Hospital Medical Center, a proud member of Prime Healthcare Foundation, has been recognized by the Lown Institute for excellence in value of care, receiving an “A” grade on the 2025-26 Lown Institute Hospitals Index. Encino Hospital Medical Center achieved this honor through strong performance across metrics of health equity, patient outcomes, and value of care, out of more than 3,500 hospitals nationwide.

Encino Hospital Medical Center ranked 10 out of 258 acute care hospitals in California and 118 nationally for Value of Care. These are independent rankings and hospitals do not apply or pay to be listed.

“Hospitals are facing unprecedented political and financial challenges,” said Vikas Saini, MD, president of the Lown Institute. “In this uncertain environment, it’s more important than ever to support the socially responsible hospitals who are delivering high-quality care to all in their community.”

“We are incredibly proud to receive an ‘A’ for Value of Care from the Lown Institute, which recognizes Encino Hospital Medical Center as one of the best in the nation for serving our patients and community. This award reflects our unwavering commitment to providing high-quality care while addressing the social determinants of health,” said EM V. Garcia, Chief Executive Officer of Encino Hospital Medical Center. “We believe that true healthcare extends beyond the walls of our hospital, and we are dedicated to making a positive impact in the lives of those we serve. This recognition inspires us to continue our efforts and strive for excellence in all that we do.”

Encino Hospital Medical Center’s continues to receive national recognition for the quality of care it provides to the community. It recently earned two American Heart Association Get With The Guidelines achievement awards for the treatment of heart disease and stroke. The hospital has also received Patient Safety Excellence Award from Healthgrades, placing it in the top 5% of all hospitals in the nation.

The Lown Hospitals Index for Social Responsibility is the only ranking to combine metrics of health equity and value of care alongside patient outcomes, for more than 2,700 acute care and 800 critical access hospitals nationwide — offering a holistic view of hospitals as total community partners. In the sixth annual rankings, the 2025-26 Lown Index evaluates hospitals on over 50 measures including novel metrics such as community benefit, racial inclusivity, and avoidance of overuse. Data sources include Medicare fee-for-service and Medicare Advantage claims, CMS patient safety data and hospital cost reports, and IRS 990 forms, among others.
